Mirwaiz said first time in the living memory of people that Jamia Masjid locked down on jumma-tul-vida | KNO

APHC Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq said that it is for the first time in the living memory of people that Jamia Masjid Srinagar, the religious Centre of the Muslims of the valley has been locked down and barred to people, on a day when people of the valley wait for a whole year to offer prayers here on the most important last Friday of the holiest month of Ramadan, as a means of seeking mercy and forgiveness from the almighty.

Strongly condemning this act and imposition of curfew and restrictions on the occasion of jumma-tul-vida by the ruling regime, Mirwaiz said such anti Muslim and oppressive moves now come as no surprise to the people of Kashmir, who each day are subject to various forms of human right violations and abuse which include infringement upon their religious rights, all of which is the hallmark of being under occupation.

Expressing grief and sorrow at the killing of Tawseef Ahmed Bhat of Tengpora Pulwama and critically injuring of more than 70 people by the Indian forces who fired indiscriminately at people and protestors in Pulwama yesterday Mirwaiz said that the anti Kashmir Ruling regime  has openly and inhumanly declared the disputed territory as a "war zone" where their mighty army and armed forces are fighting a "dirty war" against a small civilian population, to crush  them to oblivion through  genocide in order to secure control of the piece of real estate that the disputed territory of J&K is for them. Each day Kashmirs especially the youth are killed under this plan to annihilate us.

Mirwaiz paid glowing tributes to Majid Mir, Shakir Ahmed and Sheeraz Ahmed and said that our youth are sacrificing their lives for the cause of justice and dignity of the people and will always be remembered and respected by the entire Kashmiri Nation.

Commenting on the incident that happened in Nowhatta on Shab-e-qadr Mirwaiz termed it as most unfortunate. He said Mob violence and public lynching is outside the parameters of our values and religion. Mirwaiz said the violence that the state has wreaked on us is largely responsible for this kind of brutalization, as the police is being used against the people in the most brutal way which leads to brutal reactions.  He said it is very important and imperative for us that we do not allow our social fabric to be brutalized and keep our basic values intact. We cannot allow state brutality to which we are subject to each day as we see the bulleted and chatted dead bodies of our children and youth, snatch our humanity and values. What will be difference between them and us then? Such incidents are detrimental for our movement and our just freedom struggle.

Mirwaiz said we repeatedly stress upon the Indian state shun its obduracy and address the Kashmir dispute and initiate steps to resolve it so that bloodshed of Kashmiris and those killed at LOC is stopped, but to no avail .Mirwaiz said if GoI really wants an end to tragedies in Kashmir  and peace in the region let it initiate steps  to address the dispute and it will find that resistance leadership and the people most forthwith in supporting that endeavor.

Mirwaiz said as usual most Indian propaganda media mill has found grist in this sad death to further its propaganda against the resistance leadership and the movement by resorting to distorting facts and false accusations which is pathetic.

In the meanwhile Juma-tu-vida the last Friday of holy month of Ramdan was observed as youm-i-qudus and youm-e-Kashmir wherever the authorities allowed the Friday prayers in Kashmir with devotion by the Muslims. At this occasion a resolution from joint resistance leadership in support of the resistance movement was presented and endorsed by the gatherings.

Meanwhile Hurriyat spokesman has strongly condemned the house arrest of Hurriyat Chairman and the detention of Hurriyat leader Mukhtar Ahmad Waza at Sherbagh Police station Islamabad. He has termed it as a dictatorial and fascist act of the ruling regime.
